Charlotte R. Blease, PhD

Hello and welcome to my website! I am a health informaticist with a background in philosophy. I've published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals and books on healthcare. Currently, I am Associate Professor (Docent) at the Participatory eHealth and Health Data Research Group at Uppsala University, Sweden and Researcher at Digital Psychiatry, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.

During the past 20 years have held research appointments in departments of philosophy, psychology/cognitive science, & medical humanities in the UK, Ireland, and Germany. More recently, I spent 5 years at Harvard Medical School - first as a Fulbright Scholar, a Research Fellow, and for 3 years as a Keane Scholar.

Passionate about patient-centered care and public understanding of healthcare in 2012 I was a winner of BBC Radio 3's New Generation Thinkers competition. My research has been profiled in diverse outlets: Time magazine, The New York Times, The Daily Mail, The Washington Post, The Guardian, El País, Aeon, The Sydney Morning Herald, Deutsche Welle, Haaretz, The Irish Times, The Independent, STAT, Pulse, Medpage Today, and Psychology Today. My philosophy in schools outreach work has been recognized by the President of Ireland.
